If you are from the UK and visiting around October half term try and arrange your vacation to coincide with Halloween. The concept of trick or treating came from the States and they still do it far better than the Brits. If you have been lucky enough to book a villa then you can stay at home and enjoy the experience. Firstly, a trip to the local store or supermarket is required. Load up with goodies, candy etc and possibly even a costume to enter into the spirit (no pun intended). As the evening arrives take your favourite chair out to the front of the house with your bag of goodies, camera and snacks for yourself and settle down to enjoy the show. By the way if the trick or treating is not your thing then just turn off the porch light and you should be left alone. The kids make an effort. A lot of the costumes are professionally made thesedays and are really excellent. As they start to arrive you will realise why you needed to load up with sweets. These guys are carrying pillow cases for their candy, not small bags! Another way to enjoy the experience is to tag along if you have made friends with a local family. You can even dress up a bit if you want. Of course, in Florida as you would expect the Parks do Halloween well. For the little ones Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Park and for those a little older try Universal. Our teenage daughter and her friend screamed most of the way around! And they call that enjoying themselves!
